Bobby

Bobby was found as a stray and brought to a shelter where he quickly became a favorite of volunteers and staff due to his friendly nature. He patiently waited for a family to come but his time there was up. NJSH Rescue was contacted to save him and Bobby is now safe.

 

He is well-behaved, easy to handle, and good with other dogs and people.  Bobby is about 3 1/2 years old, 55 pounds, is good on leash and a joy to be with. He is in a loving foster home and enjoying his time there. Bobby loves his bed and loves his toys too.

 

He passed all temperament tests and is a very good boy!! Bobby is neutered, current on his shots and microchipped. Check out his training video here! ​

Brody

Brody is about 3 years old and 55 pounds.  He was adopted as a young puppy (see his last few pictures) but was recently returned to us because the family had no time for him.

 

Brody likes toys and car rides and is great with other dogs having attended doggy daycare in his last home. True to his breed, he is a herder and loves the outdoors. A family with herding breed experience would be best for him.

Chrissy

A southern shelter sent Chrissy to a New Jersey rescue to find a better life but unfortunately, that is not what she found. Chrissy was seized by animal control after living in a home with too many animals. She was removed and went to live with a foster family immediately.

 

Although Chrissy is a very sweet girl, her trauma is deep and will likely take her a good amount of time to heal. Her amazing foster family is providing an abundance of love, time, and patience so she can overcome her general fearful nature. 

​

It is our goal that one day Chrissy will be ready for a forever home of her own.  She needs a home where she can continue to gain confidence and overcome her cautious reaction to people.  With this in mind, we are looking for a home without children.

 

Until that time she is in the very loving capable hands of her foster family.

Cooper

Cooper is 8 years old and about 23 pounds. He is affectionate, crate trained, enjoys toys and playing fetch, walks nicely on leash and enjoys car rides. Cooper was raised in one home since he was a puppy. His life there was very stressful which led to him being fearful of loud noises.  He will need a quiet environment with someone who will give him time and space to feel comfortable in his new surroundings. 

 

Cooper is neutered, current on his shots, microchipped, loving, warm and friendly.

Do you live alone, have no other animals, have a fenced in yard and are able to put him away when you have company?  If so, Cooper may be the dog for you. 

 

He is an excellent companion, he just can’t take a lot of excitement.

Duke

Duke is a 7-year-old treeing walker coonhound who was found as a stray in rural NC. He is a beautiful leash walker and would be a great hiking companion for someone.  Duke is very affectionate and happy. He enjoys his family and although he loves to be outdoors he also enjoys a soft bed !!

 

Duke has very manageable resource guarding in a home environment- so he will need an experienced adopter and a child-free home, which is a shame because he loves children and is very gentle with them.

 

He can go anywhere with you as he is very friendly and fun.

Hi! My name is Juliana! I'm about 3 years old, 78 lbs. and housetrained. I am timid though, so I  need a special home, one with another dog (or dogs), a fenced-in yard, and very patient people.

Kyla (Kylo)

Foster or foster-to-adopt family needed!!

 

Kyla is about 4 years old and 55 lbs. Her previous owner was living in a car which was no life for this sweet girl, so she was surrendered to a shelter where she quickly became a volunteer favorite.

 

Kyla is housetrained, walks nicely on a leash, is a bit of a couch potato but likes playing with toys and is great with kids and cats. While Kyla gets along with other dogs, she would do best being the only dog in her new home.

 

Kyla is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and not destructive so she doesn't need to be crated.

 

She is a special girl who is looking for someone to give her a second chance at love.

Milo

Milo was surrendered to the shelter because he smelled - can you imagine? He had a pretty bad flea infestation and skin infection. Poor Milo was loaded with parasites and obviously not well taken care of. With great veterinary care he is in great shape now.

 

Milo obviously has some residual effects of being abandoned and suffers from severe separation anxiety - which he has been working on in his very committed foster home. He is one of our special needs dogs who we are still working with. 

 

Milo has a wonderful personality and is loving and sweet. The shelter estimated he was 2 years old but we think he is younger. Milo is 26 pounds and a DNA test revealed he is 30% Bichon, 29% Brittany Spaniel and 28% Shitzu quite a combination.

Monroe

Monroe is a fun, energetic, and vibrant 6 year-old purebred soft coated wheaten terrier. We took him as an owner surrender because he was nipping at children visiting the home.

Monroe is a wonderful dog who is affectionate and playful with his people. He would enjoy the company of another dog and in fact we think it would be great for him.

 

He will need a quiet home with someone willing to give him plenty of patience and time to help him adjust. He is a great walk, good in the car, house-trained and well behaved in the home.

Nikki

Nikki was surrendered to the shelter after being found as a stray. Sometimes there is no story and we don’t have one. What we do see is a happy, loving dog who is eager to please. Nikki is a husky/lab/hound mix who is about a year and half old and 49 pounds.

 

Nikki is a great walk on leash, great in the car and very smart. Nikki seems to have had some training because she knows touch and responds to a clicker. Her foster family reports that she is so very affectionate and loves her walks. Nikki has been very friendly with everyone she meets!

Penny (Tripod)

Meet Penny! Penny is about 5 years old and 10 pounds. She is housetrained, crate trained and gets along with other dogs, but no cats for this cutie. She loves to run, and play and is great on a leash.

Penny was picked up as a stray in South Jersey. Sadly, her family never came looking for her. When Penny was found, her right rear leg had already been removed. She hasn't shared with us what happened and that's OK because that part of her life is behind her.

 

This little girl is ready to start a new chapter, one with a family that will love her FURever!

Rusty Poodle

Rusty Poodle was surrendered to the shelter by the only family he has ever known. They said they were losing their home. He did not take it very well and was struggling at the shelter. We were asked if we could help him out. We have learned quite a lot about him during his time with us. Rusty does not want to share his things with other dogs. So he will need to be an only dog. Humans can take whatever they want from him. Rusty will need an experienced owner in an all adult home as an only dog. We think that he needs to feel safe again in a home of his own with someone willing to give him a chance. Rusty is 6 years old and only 9.6 pounds - he is tiny but fiesty!

Sparky

Sparky is about 9 years old and only 11 pounds. He was surrendered to the shelter when his owner said she was moving and could not take him. While in foster, we have found him to be house-trained, crate-trained and leash-trained.  Sparky is a nice little dog who enjoys squeaky toys and finding a nice lap to cuddle on.

A visit to our veterinarian has shown that he likely only sees shadows and one eye is better than the other. He had a dental and is ready for his new family to find him. This little nugget behaved very well at the vet and is a very sweet boy who needs a nice lap to cuddle on. Sparky will be a great companion for someone very special.

Wheezy

At 9 years old and 16 lbs., Wheezy was surrendered to the shelter when her owner became ill and could no longer care for her. To say she was scared is an understatement.  Wheezy was very happy to get out of the shelter with us and simply cuddled up for a nice ride home.  

 

Wheezy is good with both dogs and cats. She is well-behaved in the home and can be left home without being destructive. The best news of all, she is housebroken. She is a great girl who is looking for a second chance with a family of her own. Wheezy has been vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and had a dental treatment done where several of her teeth had to be removed.

 

Wheezy has recently been diagnosed with Cushing disease which is being treated with daily medication. OUR RESCUE WILL COVER THE COST OF HER MEDICATION.

She is doing great with it and will make a wonderful pet for a lucky family.
